Solar Eclipse 2024

Solar eclipses are a watch worthy natural phenomena and this year we can view it across the United States with 90% or more clarity from many places. But what other meaning does a solar eclipse have? The sight of the moon passing in front of the sun, gradually obscuring its light can be viewed not only with awe but with insight. Here are some things to consider if you are an eclipse fan:

  1. If you are able to view the eclipse outside it’s an opportunity to connect with the natural world and feel the largeness of nature and the cosmos. When we are able to do this regularly it helps us to focus less on ourselves as individuals and any problems or challenges we are facing, even if only for a short time
  2. If you are able to watch the eclipse with a group of folks, sharing in the excitement and wonder of nature, helps us to connect with each other and feel that sense of bonding and community that is so important for physical and emotional health and well-being
  3. Lastly if you are interested in self-growth, eclipses are sometimes associated with new beginnings, personal renewal, and societal transformation

Regardless of your reasons to see the eclipse, I hope you enjoy the experience because you’ll have to wait another 20 years for this opportunity to come again.

Have a Mindful New Year!

As we welcome the new year, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the importance of mindfulness in our lives. Mindfulness is the practice of being fully present in the moment, paying attention to your thoughts, feelings, and sensations without judgment . It can help reduce stress, improve mental well-being, and enhance focus and self-awareness. As a nutritionist, yoga teacher, and mindfulness coach, I believe that mindfulness is an essential component of a healthy lifestyle.

I often discuss it at the start of my yoga classes as we focus on our breath and come into a state of inner awareness and quietness. From this place of inner peace, we can open to allowing the moment to be just as it is.

Yes it is hard to keep your mind completely clear, but mindfulness doesn’t require that. It is possible to eat more mindfully by taking one bite at a time and savoring your food, acknowledging where it came from and the nourishment you will receive by eating it.

Mindful communication only requires listening deeply to the other without thinking of your response or focusing on something outside of the conversation.

Incorporating mindfulness into your daily routine can be a simple yet powerful way to improve your overall well-being. Here are some tips to help you have a mindful new year:

    1. Start your day with intention: Begin your day by setting an intention for the day ahead. This can be as simple as taking a few deep breaths or stretches, or repeating some meaningful affirmations.
    2. Practice gratitude: Take a moment each day to reflect on the things you are grateful for. This can help shift your focus to the positive aspects of your life, especially if you are feeling down.
    3. Take breaks: Make sure to take breaks throughout the day to recharge and refocus. This can help improve productivity and reduce stress. Stretching or walking around the block is a great way to add more movement to your life as well.
    4. Be present: Try to be fully present in the moment, whether you are spending time with loved ones, working, or engaging in other activities. This can help you appreciate the little things in life and find joy in the present moment. You can start slowly by taking mindful moments of intentional breathing while stopped at a red light or waiting on hold on the phone – a tough one for me!

Client No Longer Pre-diabetic!

“My journey started a couple of years ago with a pre-diabetic A1C test. I am thin and a healthy eater so was surprised. Adrienne’s Weight Loss Story

I just lost 40.4 pounds while working with Renee Simon. For the last 11 years I have been trying to loose weight. Weight Watchers didn’t work as I would gain all the weight back. My doctor wrote in his files “obese. ”    I tried on my own but of course gained more. My doctor put me on a weight program where a scale is sent to me and whenever I weigh myself it goes  directly to him. I was supposed to be given a nutritionist with the program, but as my luck would have their nutritionist left and I had no one to help me.  I luckily found Renee. It’s been a godsend. I’ve been on the program since January 2023. As of today, September 18th, 2023 I have lost 40.4 pounds. The best part is I’m actually keeping it off. I’m now wearing clothes I haven’t fit into since 2005.  I am so happy I cannot express. The other day I dropped something on the floor and had to bend down to get it. I realized that’s the first time I bent down with absolutely NO difficulty!!!  I cannot recommend Renee‘s talents enough!   I’ve included before and after photos so you can see the difference yourself!!

What I realized at the last half day women’s empowerment retreat that I hosted a few months ago, is that women love to be together to share ideas and support each other in community. It makes sense since many of us are ready to grow and move forward in our lives and celebrate who we are while moving towards our life purpose and actualizing to the next level. To this point, I decided to host a workshop for women who want to create their best lives in 2023, reach some new goals, and blossom.
